MSTSS00017 - Sample Machining Skill Set

Description

This skill set follows on from the Industrial Sewing Skill Set (MSTSS00015) and includes more complex componentry such as zips, binds and sleeves as well as directional change and handling different fabric weights, providing you with the skills to complete whole garments.

You will also learn to use more advanced machinery including buttonhole machines and button sewers.

With industry partnerships like South Australian fashion icon R.M.Williams, demand for sewing skills has never been higher. During this course you will get to visit the R.M.Williams facility and be inspired by an R.M.Williams guest speaker with extensive fashion industry experience.

  • Completion of Industrial Sewing Skill Set (MSTSS00015) - you must supply evidence as part of the registration process

    Demonstration of industrial sewing skills

    Completion of the Training Account Consent Form - you are required to upload a completed form at the time of enrolment. You can download a copy of the form under the Files & Resources tab below.

    This course is subsidised by the government and you must meet criteria to be eligible for the subsidised rate - you can find the eligibility criteria under the Files & Resources tab below.
  • Sew garments (MSTAT3005)

    Identify and handle fabrics and textiles (MSTGN2023)

    Sew materials by machine (MSTAT2005)

  • - Sew materials using industrial sewing machine
    - Sew garments for sample use
    - Identify and handle fabrics and textiles
    - Hear from R.M.Williams guest speaker with extensive fashion industry experience and take a tour of the R.M.Williams facilities
  • This skill set is an entry level pathway and provides credit towards MST31022 Certificate III in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles

Short Course Delivery Locations Some short courses can provide accreditation for industry-specific registration, while others merely provide skills and knowledge in the subject area. Concession prices are available for some courses.
